The teacher marks the portfolios but we moderate them. The teacher should also guide and advise students in the production of their portfolios. While some work, particularly in the early planning stages, may take place in groups, the input of the individual student must be clearly identified, and the judgements and conclusions reached must be their own.
Students must complete two portfolios of work for GCSE Applied Science (Double Award). The first portfolio assesses students on their knowledge and understanding of Unit 6: Developing Scientific Skills . The second portfolio assesses students on Unit 8: Science at Work . Each portfolio is worth percent of the final award.
This specification prepares students for the study of geography at a more advanced level, for example courses in Advanced Subsidiary (AS) and GCE Geography, or Advanced Vocational Certificate in Education in Travel and Tourism.
The specification is compatible with CCEA&rsquo s GCSE English Literature specification. Work submitted for the Reading, Writing and Speaking and Listening components may be based on texts studied for assessment in English Literature.
This course prepares students for the study of music and related subjects at a more advanced level, for example Advanced Subsidiary and Advanced Level qualifications.
Our GCSE English Literature is now available for all schools. For all centres who are entering students for 7 GCSEs in the English subject area, English Literature must be studied with English Language.
CCEA&rsquo s GCSE English Language Specification meets the requirements of the Northern Ireland GCSE regulations and builds on the pupils&rsquo experience of English at Key Stage 8.
