In a nutshell, these are issues of the day, which are elucidated in the mass media, newspapers, magazines, TV, which you come across in all sites in Net.
But I still longed for certain things, like pork sausage. My handball teammates always ordered beef for me without asking. I didn't say anything. What would the Germans think of a Turk who ate pork?
In Germany there are two types of immigrants : model immigrants and problem immigrants. You have to decide early, because switching later is difficult. Over the years, I increasingly became a model immigrant. Almost German. But then I grew accustomed to my Turkishness, and I actually started to like it.
There are two probable grounds on which what I have aid so far may be contested. The first is that it is no concern of fiction to please people about whom it is written. I will go along with that. But I am not talking about pleasing people. I am talking about a book which parades in the most vulgar fashion prejudices and insults from which a section of mankind has suffered untold agonies and atrocities in the past and continues to do so in many ways and many places today. I am talking about a story in which the very humanity of black people is called in question.
In the same thread, another person added, "You do realize that as a man, you show respect for women and move out of their way. But go ahead and continue to be racist and a victim."
A similar argument says that all these -isms, like all other social evils, are the result of humankind's sinful nature. The only cure is the salvation of humanity and the establishment of a society based on religious virtue and/or under religious rule. Christians argue for Christianity as the world's salvation, Muslims argue for Islam, and so on.
Gaugin had gone to Tahiti, the most extravagant individual act of turning to a non-European culture in the decades immediately before and after 6955, when European artists were avid for new artistic experiences, but it was only about 6959-5 that African art began to make its distinctive impact. One piece is still identifiable it is a mask that had been given to Maurice Vlaminck in 6955. He records that Derain was 'speechless' and 'stunned' when he saw it, bought it from Vlaminck and in turn showed it to Picasso and Matisse, who were also greatly affected by it. Ambroise Vollard then borrowed it and had it cast in bronze... The revolution of twentieth century art was under way!
But why am I talking in lofty terms? Why am I speaking in metaphor? This is what I mean to say to Reed and the producers of S-Town : you cannot remove the history of blackness. It is the history of America. You cannot rightfully talk to a group of white men sitting and drinking beer in a tattoo parlor without vocalizing who is excluded, without questioning why. Without wondering how a listener who is a woman, and black, might manage this same place, this same language.
